I think that it’s a product that serves a great market and has a great community. It’s currently supported thru 2015. That said, the strategic investments of the Developer Division are going into Visual Studio and .NET, but we’re going to continue to take ideas from one to another. So you’ll see things like Language INtegrated Query (LINQ) in VB and C# and things like enhanced SQL Server support and the My framework in VFP.

My typical advice would be to join the community – but if they’re reading this, they probably already have. So I’d have to say that the biggest gains in development that I’ve found tend to come thru standardization and extension. In other words, standardize as much of your applications as possible (frameworks are big here) and then use VFP’s great extensibility to write tools that automate large parts of the application creation that you’ve standardized. There are huge productivity gains to be found by doing that.
