Job description

This is a position for Datastage Architect/Developer with our direct Client, a large reputed financial organization based in Rockville, MD.

The salary can be up to $130,000 and the rate - up to $90/hr. We offer excellent benefits (like 401(k) plan, 100% family medical insurance, paid vacations, etc).

The Datastage Architect/Developer will work with other members of Market Regulation Data Ingestion Platform team responsible for the definition and delivery of data processing solutions across the tower projects on all aspects of Datastage administration, development & maintenance. The Datastage Architect/Developer reports directly to the Platform Director. Candidate must have expert knowledge of Java and SQL. Additionally knowledge of C++ and some exposure to Datastage ot other ETL tools is a plus. Exposure to Data Warehouse appliances such as Netezza - also a plus.

Essential Job Functions:

* Commitment to the delivery of software to the project manager.

* Willingness to acquire expert knowledge of Datastage and Netezza.

* Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues using the Cognos log message facility.

* Performance tuning and optimization the solutions using load balancing and distributed hardware architecture.

* Coordinates with external project resources, including configuration management and Operations & Engineering.

* Communicates task progress and issues to management and project sponsor.

* Drives architecture decisions in small to medium sized projects.

* Ensure compliance with standard software development practices, processes and enterprise standards.

* Define, design, develop and deliver flexible solutions that meet business user needs

* Provide day-to-day support for less experienced programmers.

* Provide recommendations based on Datastage and Netezza audit/monitoring

* Develop design documentation, Installation Guides and Release Notes for all development efforts

Education / Experience Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or advanced degree preferred.

* Minimum of 8-10 years experience in data centric development

* Experience in using administrating tools for UNIX is a must.

* Experience with OLAP, reporting, and ad-hoc analysis is necessary, along with an understanding of databases and database connectivity.

* Demonstrated ability to delivery software projects of high complexity and risk

* Proven ability to negotiate competing features with customers, ensuring an achievable commitment.

* Outstanding communication, organization, time management, interpersonal and management skills

* Certification with Datastage Tool set and/or Netezza is a plus

* Experience working with large scale, complex system

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Ability to work on simultaneous projects and capable of rapidly responding to production related issues

* Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills

* Excellent written and oral communication skills
