Replication Server & Replication Manager Plug-in Version 15.0 Beta Release

We are looking to add a few more existing Replication Server customers
to the 15.0 Beta Program. The Beta release will include both the
Replication Server and a new version of the Replication Manager
Plug-in (RMP) for Sybase Central. The Beta program will run for eight
weeks starting with a kick off conference call and software download
on May 5, 2005.

The Beta will be engineering supported. Each Beta customer will be
assigned a Sybase engineer for direct communications, as well as
given direct access to the RS 15.0 feature developers for questions
and comments about the new features.

Weekly conference calls have been scheduled running from May 5, 2005 -
June 28, 2005.

coming weeks.

New Replication Server features included in the 15.0 Beta release are:

Embedded RSSD Routing - Adds full support of routes to any 15.0
Replication Server with an Embedded RSSD(ERSSD). 12.6 Replication
Servers with an ERSSD were unable to be the source of any route,
this limitation has been removed in 15.0. The 15.0 Replication Server
controls the ASA dbltm, including configuration and process control.
This added functionality enriches the ERSSD feature by removing all
limitations and differences between a traditional RSSD(on ASE) and
an eRSSD.

New 15.0 ASE datatyes - UniText, 64-Bit Integer SQL Data Type(
signed & unsigned) - These new datatypes in ASE 15.0 are supported
in Replication Server 15.0 as well. UniText expands ASE's Unicode
capabilities by providing UNITEXT datatype support along with the
existing UNICHAR and UNIVARCHAR datatypes. The 64-Bit Integer SQL
Datatype provides efficient handling of values up to 9.22 x 10e18.

Large Identifiers - Provides increased naming flexibility in single
and multi-byte character set environments by expanding most identifier
names from 30 bytes to 255 bytes, including replication definitions,
subscriptions, articles, publications, etc. ASE 15.0 supports large
identifiers for tables, columns, indexes, views, stored procedures,
variables, and datatypes.

Computed columns - Supports ASE 15.0 new functionality used to define
columns in respect to a regular expression using data in the table.
RS 15.0 will replicated "materialized" computed columns.

Larger Replication Server partition support - The maximum size of an
Replication Server 15.0 partition has been expanded to 1 Terabyte.
This feature will assist customers who have high data volume and
periods of non-connected replicate databases.

FIPS 140-2 Security Algorithm - 15.0 Replication Server used a FIPS
140-2 approved security algorithm for encryption of passwords on the
network and in the RS configuration file.

FIPS 140-2 Compliant SSL Support - updated SSL libraries are now
compliant with the FIPS 140-2 standard.

The Replication Manager Plug-in (RMP) for Sybase Central Java Edition
enhances the original Java plug-in delivered with Replication Server
12.6.

The new features available in the 15.0 Beta are:

Replication environment monitoring - The RMP monitors the status of
the servers, connections, routes, and queues in a replication
environment. The RMP graphically displays status on the Sybase Central
desktop and reports any change of status in the new event log panel.

Manage Replication Objects - The RMP now manages many additional
objects in a replication environment including logical connections,
routes, queues, table replication definitions, and table subscriptions.
The RMP can aid users when implementing complex replication
configuration such as adding a database replication definition to a
logical connection.

Troubleshooting tools - The RMP provides the ability to view the
Replication Server's exception log, edit skipped transactions, and
re-submit them to the replicate data server. The RMP also provides
the ability to view Replication Server internal thread data and view
the data in the Replication Server's queues.
