The error is caused by installing Sun JRE 1.6 64bit rather than Sun JDK 1.6 64bit. FMW 11g on 64bit platforms requires the full Sun JDK 1.6 64bit version to be installed.

Solution
Deinstall and remove the existing FMW 11g Middleware Home created by the failed attempt.

1. Install Sun JDK 1.6 64bit prior to building the FMW 11g architecture. Installing Sun JRE 1.6 only will not be sufficient.

2. Install WebLogic 64bit Generic using the Java program from the Sun JDK 1.6 64bit JAVA_HOME.

3. Thereafter install and configure your chosen FMW 11g Components i.e the Oracle Homes and Oracle Instances.
