Thanks for taking my call yesterday.
As suggested I have attached a couple of Pdf files with this e-mail that will give you an idea about the products that I mentioned.

We spoke briefly about MS Analysis services.

MS Analysis Services is fast becoming the standard when it comes pure analytical work, however it struggles where the applications need the agility of a modelling tool, where data needs to be written back to the model's and business logic applied, and results sent back to the end users) in seconds.
Which are the requirements during a planning and forecasting cycle.

MS Analysis services creates a table called 'write back' for each cube that is opened to accept data from end-users. So when a user sends their input back, the result returned to the user is a combination of the numbers stored within the OLAP cube adjusted with numbers stored in the 'write back' table.
This is fine for a small community of users. However unless the 'write back'
table is flushed and the data loaded into the OLAP cube the performance of the system could be affected. I also feel that MDX as a language although very powerful and functional, does not lend itself to be used by none IT personnel, who usually are the developers of the planning and forecasting applications.

During our conversion, I mentioned two products Intelligent Apps and Applix Tm1.

Intelligent Apps is an Excel based tool that allows the navigation of MS Analysis Services cubes and also provides integration with MS Reporting Services. This will allow users who have experience of Excel to create analytical views from the cubes and then share those views with others.
Intelligent Apps also allows the use of these views via the web.

Applix Tm1 is what Clearview suggest as a platform for planning and forecasting applications. It has at the core a powerful multi-dimensional modelling engine that is supported by a high level 4GL language which is aimed at none IT developers. Using this, business rules are developed.
Access to the environment can be via either Excel client or web browser.
