U2 product family (UniVerse/UniData) Highlights UniData IBM UniData is an extended-relational, SQL-compliant database that supports repeating groups, hierarchies and arrays. UniData offers both best-of-breed native interfaces with ActiveX, Java and C interfaces, as well as industry-standard interfaces such as JDBC, ODBC, OLE DB and HTTP. IBM intends to offer enhancements and support UniData customers and business partners for as long as they require. More details are included in this section below. UniData 6.0, released in the second half of 2002, includes enhancements to openness, security, robustness and scalability. This release provides a native JDBC driver as well as support for XML input and output from the database engine. Security improvements come from the added support of SSL for the HTTP and socket interfaces as well as the telnet and UniObjects for Java protocols. UniData 6.0 includes realtime replication functionality as part of the core database feature set. Integrated native support for WebSphere MQ is also included in this release. Enhancements under consideration for UniData beyond release 6 include enhancements to XML, support for a SOAP client API, and an open driver framework to allow external database storage options. ... |
