For all of you fans of Informix lore, you might find a visit to Wikipedia, "The Free Encyclopedia", to trigger some nostalgia. The thing actually lists "Informix" at http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Informix. The first paragraph provides a good overall perspective: "Informix is a relational database and for almost 20 years was also the name of the company who developed it. Informix DBMS was a development of the pioneering Ingres system that also led to Sybase and SQL Server, and was the #2 database system behind Oracle for some time in the 1990s". If you want to learn or be remembered of Informix's history, this is a good place to visit. Wikipedia describes itself as follows: "Wikipedia is a multilingual project to create a complete and accurate open content encyclopedia. We started on January 15, 2001 and are currently working on 135737 articles in the English version.". Their home page is http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page. Best regards, GVF112 ... |

Да, интересно почитать, особенно данные о судьбе тех, кто привел Informix в свое время если не к краху, то к существенной потере авторитета и позиций на рынке. Меня например порадовало ниже следующее (жаль, только, что немца не посадили :) --------------------- In November 2002, Phillip White, the former CEO of Informix ousted in 1997, was indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with eight counts of securities, wire, and mail fraud. In a plea bargain thirteen months later, he pleaded guilty to a single count of filing a false registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission. In May 2004, the Department of Justice announced White was sentenced to two months in federal prison for securities fraud, a fine of $10,000, along with a two-year period of supervised release and 300 hours of community service. The announcement noted that the amount of loss to shareholders from the violation, could not reasonably be estimated under the facts of the case [2] (http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/can/press/html/2004_05_white.html). White's earlier plea agreement had limited prison time to no more than 12 months. Another Informix officer, the company's Vice-President in charge of European operations Walter Königseder, was indicted by a federal grand jury earlier but, as he was a citizen and resident of Munich, Germany, the United States has been unable to secure his extradition. ---------------- ... |
